Right Place Right Time
I was in Hawaii a few years back for a vacation and it was whale season in Maui. I planned to go at this time of the year so I purchased an expensive camera with a great telephoto lens and I was sure I would get an awesome picture of a whale.
It was a great day and the whales were all around, I took an entire memory card of pictures and got some good fins, tails, backs, etc. I happened to be gazing at the water and saw the mark that whales tend to make – you know the oil slick looking thing.
Mindset is everything!
I envisioned myself taking this really great picture and aimed my camera at this one spot – and boom – the photo series above was what I captured. It was amazing! I knew I caught something great but didn’t know how great until I could get the images on my computer.
What I love about this series is the 4th and 5th picture, when the pictures are enlarged you can see the whale smiling. Still gives me chills to see such joy.
Believe that the deepest level you can accomplish your goals
I took this amazing course that Isagenix offered, at a really great price, called Growth U. It was a 45 day course by a very dynamic instructor Rod Hairston. Some of the notes that I took from it was this quote:
“Focus, self-talk and physical expression: those are the three ingredients that you are going to mix together to build your new habits. Your habits will get the results for you. All you need to focus on in life is building the right habits. Evaluate your habits, and recondition the ones that don’t serve you. You do this by focusing on thoughts that feed your Vision, by making sure your self-talk is positive, and by holding your body tall and strong.” – Rod Hairston
The other big takeaway for me was around self-talk. Habits, Beliefs, How you see yourself all comes from how you talk to yourself – you know those thoughts that pop around in your head. If you think, I’ll never get a good picture of a whale – you probably won’t but I believed in my heart of heart that I could get this great picture. I didn’t keep my eye glued to the camera but was open and looking for that next possibility then bam it presented itself.
In this day and age, we all seem to have our noses in our devices – phones, iPads, computers, book readers, etc. I am no different but have been working to open myself up to looking around me and observing and actually being in the moment. You see so many great things and meet so many great people this way. Another great quote that speaks to me is
“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable” – Helen Keller.
